About us

Kulturföreningen Senzala Sweden was founded in 2005 by Miguel Guedes, a student of Mestre Peixinho from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.

Although we have quality as the aim of our work, Kultuföreningen Senzala is already the largest Capoeira school within Stockholm area, offering classes for all ages over 4 years old on every weekday and in different locations. This comes as result of our constant effort on improving our classes and on building up an environment in which the students, regardless of their age, sex or ideals, exchange information, develop skills and most of all enjoy themselves.

We try to contribute to the "Energy" and information flow between people by having professional "honorable" guests in a regular basis, and promoting events related to Capoeira and other cultural forms.

We cooperate with many respected institutions in Sweden in projects and initiatives of different sorts.

In our teaching method, one can point out:

“Practical teaching centralized in the students, focusing in their interests, necessities, and own learning rhythms.
“Respect for each one’s personality, valuing its own identity, developing ones consciousness and promoting the developing of self-confidence.
“Proposing teaching methods and technics that go beyond the classical styles of Capoeira ( Angola and Regional ) allow continuity in the Capoeira Art and without loosing it´s traditions.
“Great creativity and constant evaluation of our activities towards the improving of quality.
